Liberal Tea Party?

Judson Phillips

Not getting it.

The left does not understand the Tea Party.  Ignoring the fact they want to destroy us, they do want to understand us.   They believe if they can figure out our model, they can have a liberal “Tea Party.”  There is one leftist who has been pushing this idea.

Who is it?

Van Jones.

Ever since Van Jones left his White House job, he has been obsessed with launching a leftist version of the Tea Party. It is no great surprise that he has not been able to launch one.

Will Van Jones ever be able to figure it out?

Probably not.  After all, he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

See his video on the subject here.

Why is the Tea Party successful?

It is simple.  Unlike the left, the Tea Party is essentially a positive movement.   The Tea Party movement began with outrage over the out of control spending by the Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of fiscal evil.   The motivation of the Americans who poured out into the streets was different.

While the left wants to tear down and destroy all that is good in America, and replace it with an ideology if evil, the Tea Party movement is based on love.  Real Americans love their country and their neighbors.   The Tea Party is not motivated by hatred as the left is.

The Tea Party movement’s secret is our people and our goals.  The people want to see America restored as the greatest country in the world.  The members of the Tea Party love America’s ideals.   We believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The way we treat our neighbors is perhaps the greatest example.  The police do not show up to arrest Tea Party members at our rallies.  At Tea Party rallies, we do not riot, nor do we destroy property.  In fact, at every rally I have been involved in, we have made it a point to leave the grounds cleaner than when we arrived.  Compare that to any number of liberal events, including Obama’s inauguration.

The Tea Party is a movement that has had unprecedented success and the left is frustrated, not only because we are so successful but because they have not been able to create a “liberal Tea Party.”

Now Van Jones talks about wanting to “steal our playbook.”

Well, Van, you don’t have to steal our playbook.  I’ll tell you what it is.

The secrets of the Tea Party playbook are we love America and we love our fellow Americans.

We see America as the great shinning city on the hill.  We see America as an inherently good place.   America is the nation that has done the most good for the most people than any other nation in the history of mankind.

The other part of our playbook is that Tea Party members love their neighbors as themselves.  (I wonder if Van Jones can figure out where that principle comes from?)   When you go to a Tea Party event, you do not see people trying to fight with anyone.  We want the best for our family, our friends and our neighbors.  And we are very willing to jump in and help them.  There is a reason why charitable giving in Red States far exceeds that in Blue States.   Tea Party members want to see everyone prosperous and happy.

The socialism that Van Jones pushes is just the opposite.  It wants to destroy this country and replace it with a model that has failed time and time again and instead of allowing everyone the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, his model wants to pull everyone down to the same level of misery.  His model wants to create dependency, which kills the opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

If Van Jones wants to create a Tea Party, he can do it.   It is very simple.  Just adopt our core beliefs.  Although the day he adopts those core beliefs is the day he will become a conservative.

Of course, when that happens, there will still be no liberal Tea Party.
