Building Homes For Heroes
The Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning actor Gary Sinise, joined Sean in the show’s first hour to discuss a fundraiser he’s participating in. In addition to being an incredibly talented actor, Sinise is a member of a band he formed called the Lt. Dan Band (after his Forrest Gump character). Sinise and his band tours the country (when he’s not acting) to raise money for our troops. This Saturday, the Lt. Dan Band will be performing to help build a new home for a true American hero, SPC Brendan Marrocco. Marrocco, a 23-year old Army Specialist, lost all four limbs on Easter Sunday 2009 when the vehicle he was driving in Bayji Iraq was hit by a roadside bomb { Article}. The blast tore off both of Marrocco's arms and his left leg. His right leg was mangled beyond saving. His carotid artery was severed, his body badly burned, and vision in his left eye was severely damaged. Yet Brendan survived, and is the first quadruple amputee to do so. Everything but the kitchen sink. Maybe a little poetry, sports, politics and religion. . . who knows ! Ok, turns out it is mostly politics.
