Barack Obama in Crisis: Zzzz

by Michelle Malkin

President Bush's harshest critics often described his look during moments of crisis as "deer in the headlights." After two years of Hope and Change, America has grown accustomed to President Obama's crisis face: eyes glazed over.

At his first press conference in 308 days, Obama fielded questions about the Gulf oil spill, immigration, the war in Afghanistan and the mounting outrage over Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak's job-trading allegations with a sluggishness bordering on geriatric. His aplomb was a bomb.

The commander-in-chief's mumbling, diffident tone contradicted the "I CARE" message of urgency that drifted across the teleprompter screen and rolled languidly off his tongue.

"I am angry and frustrated," he heaved. Rather unconvincingly. He was "singularly focused," he asserted. Rather distractedly. The president did manage to work up enough energy to condemn BP and then turned to a moment of obligatory self-aggrandizement: "I'm confident that people are going to look back and say that this administration was on top of what was an unprecedented crisis."

How "on top" was he? Well, not enough to take the time on Thursday morning before his much-hyped appearance to nail down the details of how and why his Interior Department Chief of the Minerals Management Service Liz Birnbaum was no longer in office. "You're assuming it was a firing," Obama told reporters. "I don't yet know the circumstances." He explained that he was preoccupied with other matters and couldn't get ahold of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

When pressed to elaborate, he heaved again: "I don't know."

Then, addressing all the ignorant Americans who have failed to appreciate his rescue efforts, Obama mustered up a semblance of indignation: "Those who think we were either slow in our response or lacked urgency don't know the facts. This has been our highest priority since this crisis occurred."

And this is the Obama definition of accountability: blaming everyone else for lacking the Ivy League-honed comprehension skills to see the greatness of his fortitude and foresight.

How high of a priority did his administration really make the post-spill cleanup? After droning on haltingly about the federal failure to form an "oil...tracking...flow...group," Obama admitted with a shrug: "There was a lag of several weeks that shouldn't have happened."

With more self-pity than compassion, Obama wrapped up the rare press conference with a disjointed, off-script ramble:

"But look, we've gone through a difficult year and a half. This is just one more bit of difficulty. And this is going to be hard, not just right now; it's going to be hard for months to come. ...

"You know, when I woke up this morning, and I'm shaving, and Malia knocks on my bathroom door, and she peeks in her head, and she says, 'Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?' -- (soft laughter) -- because I think everybody understands that, you know, when we are fouling the Earth like this, it has concrete implications not just for this generation but for future generations. ...

"And in case anybody wonders -- in any of your reporting, in case you're wondering who's responsible, I take responsibility. It is my job to make sure that everything is done to shut this down.

"That doesn't mean it's going to be easy. It doesn't mean it's going to happen right away or the way I'd like it to happen. It doesn't mean that we're not going to make mistakes. But there shouldn't be any confusion here. The federal government is fully engaged, and I'm fully engaged, all right?"

Not waiting for an answer (or for any more nettlesome questions), he hurried off for a quick photo-op pit stop in the Gulf on Friday before jetting to Chicago to keep a high-priority promise to be back in his hometown for Memorial Day weekend.

The sterile performance was eerily reminiscent of his national security announcement last December from Hawaii, when he appeared before the American people in tie-less informal island wear to read a bloodless, perfunctory statement about the Christmas Day bomber. Eyes down on his notes the whole time, he described the failed attack with the weariness of a small-town sheriff's deputy, rather than as the leader of the free world. Then it was back to the beach. This is Obama in crisis: disengaged, put upon and impatient to get back to Me Time.

Rough men stand ready to keep and defend our well-being and safety. Someone wake President Obama when it's over.

Plug and Play Administration

Great article thanks to Laura Ingraham’s website.

The plug and play administration
Posted by Laura Ingraham

Obama's schedule of late reads like a self-indulgent narcissist's dream come true:
April 23: Four days after the oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, Barack and Michelle begin their golf-filled vacation in North Carolina.
April 26: Even after it is clear that thousands upon thousands of gallons of crude are spilling into the Gulf daily, Obama pays no real attention to the crisis. He's busy entertaining the New York Yankees at the White House.
April 29: Tired of campaigning for legislation in stops across the country, Obama stays in Washington, D.C.-and attends a DNC fundraiser at a private residence.
May 1: To freshen up before his photo op in the Gulf area the next day, Obama delivers a commencement address at the University of Michigan and then yuks it up with celebs at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.
May 17: Obama hosts UConn's women's basketball team at the White House.
May 19: 30 days after the oil rig explosion, Obama enjoys the company of New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez as singer Beyonce provides a live performance at the White House State Dinner.
May 25: 36 days into the spill and after repeatedly stating that he would not rest until the leak was stopped, Obama attends a $20,000/plate dinner for Sen. Barbara Boxer in California. At the same time, a recently-taped sports interview with TNT's Marv Albert airs during an NBA playoff game.
And the whirlwind of fun is hardly over! His Memorial Day weekend vacation plans were changed to squeeze in another Gulf photo op this Friday. And, after he skips out on the usual Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Barack will return to D.C. in time to host a concert with Paul McCartney at the White House.
With such a tight schedule, Obama hasn't had time to tend to a few important real-world matters. For example:
- Meeting with Arizona's governor about the illegal immigration crisis she's being forced to tackle almost singlehandedly
- Reading the Arizona law he continues to lambaste
- Doing anything to stop the oil spill other than demonize BP and reiterate that his boot is on the company's throat
To tamp down concern over its lazy response, the administration has leaked word that Obama-wait for it!-cursed as he vented his frustration. The president's order to "plug the damn hole" certainly proves his seriousness! With just enough luck his heavy lifting may be over soon and he can get back to plugging events into his social calendar.

U.S. Innovation Under Attack By Obama

First few paragraphs from:

U.S. Innovation Under Attack By Obama

by Gary Shapiro

The Obama administration has made economic recovery a priority, but unfortunately the Administration is continuing a practice that has the opposite economic effect -- targeting America’s prize technology companies with vague antitrust laws. Last year, it was the Federal Trade Commission demanding Intel license its future technologies to competitors. Qualcomm, Google and Microsoft have also recently received federal antitrust scrutiny.

And now, federal regulators are investigating Apple over equally absurd allegations of antitrust violations. These attacks and aspersions on our best companies are harmful to our national interest on many levels. The very companies under investigation are the same companies fueling the economy and creating millions of jobs. Forcing them to spend resources better used for building the next generation of wealth-creating products is poor policy.

Obamacare – There Will Be Rationing

May 25, 2010

America under ObamaCare, Day 63: The coming health care meltdown
Posted by Staff

Obama's Nominee to Run Medicare: 'The Decision is Not Whether or Not We Will Ration Care--The Decision is Whether We Will Ration Care With Our Eyes Open'
President Barack Obama's nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs Medicare, is a strong supporter of the government-run health care system in Britain, who said in a 2009 interview about Comparative Effectiveness Research: "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care--the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open."
The $787-billion stimulus law signed by President Obama created a Federal Coordinating Coucil for Comparative Effectivieness research in health care that some critics argue was a step toward rationing of heatlh care in the United States.
Donald Berwick, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and the head of the non-profit Institute for Healthcare Improvement, was nominated by Obama on April 19, 2010.
In choosing Berwick, the Obama administration is implicitly admitting that the health care law passed by the Democrats in March will lead to the rationing of health care, said Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) in a May 19 press release...
Mass. health meltdown is your future
The future of US medicine under ObamaCare is already on display in Massachusetts. The top four health insurers there just posted first-quarter losses of more than $150 million. Most of them blamed the state's decision to keep premiums at last year's levels for individual and small-business policies, when they'd proposed double-digit hikes to match the soaring costs they've seen under the state's universal-coverage law.
The companies have gone to court to challenge the state's action -- it apparently had no basis for its ruling beyond the political needs of Gov. Deval Patrick. If they win, Bay State health premiums will continue their rapid rise; if they lose, they'll eventually have to stop doing business in Massachusetts -- and the state will be that much closer to a "single payer" system of socialized medicine.
The Massachusetts "health reform" disease means more than just bureaucrats setting prices. It also includes rising government spending and taxes; politicians demonizing doctors, hospitals and insurers -- and patients getting lectured that the restrictions of managed care are good medicine...

Hussein Obama Approval Rating

Obama approval sinks to 42%

The latest plunge in popularity could be because of the economy, OR it could be because Obama and his administration apologize and bash America whenever they get the chance.  Any time an official goes to another country, it seems America gets stabbed in the back.

Biden Has To Go !

America in decline: Vice President Biden said America really isn't the leader of the free world while giving a speech in Brussels. Excuse us?

Hussein Obama – Lack of Priorities

Obama's schedule reveals his priorities: Campaigning, fundraising, concerts, and vacations! Meanwhile, the Gulf slick grows.

The Memorial Day diss: the Obamas are going to Chicago and leaving the traditional Arlington Cemetery ceremony to the Vice President.

Our Troops In Danger !

Commanders have ordered a U.S. military unit in Afghanistan to patrol with unloaded weapons, according to a source in Afghanistan.

American soldiers in at least one unit have been ordered to conduct patrols without a round chambered in their weapons, an anonymous source stationed at a forward operating base in Afghanistan said in an interview. The source was unsure where the order originated or how many other units were affected.

When a weapon has a loaded magazine, but the safety is on and no round is chambered, the military refers to this condition as “amber status.” Weapons on “red status” are ready to fire—they have a round in the chamber and the safety is off.

The source stated that he had been stationed at the base for only a month, but the amber weapons order was in place since before he arrived. A NATO spokesman could not confirm the information, stating that levels of force are classified.

“Our overall aim is to defeat the insurgency which means we must gain and then maintain the support of the Afghan population,” said Lieutenant Commander Iain Baxter, a spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in a statement to HUMAN EVENTS. “This must be the objective of every action taken by ISAF service members, and it calls for responses that de-escalate situations where the use of deadly force may not be necessary. In doing this, leaders at all levels make enormous efforts to ensure that troops balance their own protection with the protection of the Afghan population.”

If there was a spate of friendly-fire casualties, then perhaps a change in the company's rules would make sense. ISAF keeps no records of negligent discharges, however a search of casualties in Afghanistan showed only three fatalities due to friendly fire since January 2009—one from the U.K. and two from the Netherlands. With only three fatalities in the past 18 months—none of which were from the source's unit—that argument doesn't hold water.

"The idea that any combat unit would conduct any operation, including patrolling and even manning a security post—in which direct action may or may not take place—and not having weapons loaded, borders on being criminally negligent in my opinion," says Lt. Col. W. Thomas Smith Jr., a recognized expert on terrorism and military issues. "This is nothing more than infusing politically correct restrictions into already overly restrictive rules of engagement. And this PC nonsense is going to get people killed."

I pray this is bogus.  It's got to be bogus.  If any of my readers hear more on this, by all means, post it.

Un-freakin-believable.

Washington Times responds: Go back to Mexico, Calderon!

Washington Times responds: Go back to Mexico, Calderon!
Posted by Staff

Mexico's President Felipe Calderon ought to know a lot about illegal immigrant abuse. His country has one of the worst migrant human-rights records in the world.
During his state visit last week, Mr. Calderon repeatedly - and with support and encouragement from the White House and congressional Democrats - made his opinions known on a variety of American domestic issues, including immigration and gun control. He took particular aim at Arizona's new law concerning illegal aliens, absurdly describing it as "violating the human rights of all people."
Criticism from Mexico on immigration issues is nothing new, but rarely has it been so bold, and such salvos have never been launched from U.S. soil. It might be considered bad manners except for the fact that the foreign leader was promoting President Obama's domestic agenda.

Obama – Yet Another Deal Offered

Perhaps Congressman Weiner should consider investigating the President as to what happened with Joe Sestak the other day. The President supported his opponent, Arlen Specter, and shortly after Sestak won the election he claimed that he was offered a job by the administration if he were to step out of the race.

Obama’s New International Order

Obama calls for new international order
Continuing his trend of things that most presidents never do, President Obama spoke at West Point and told the cadets there of the need for a new international order. Given the recent apology tours, it seems the logical 'new' order would have America falling down a few spots in the countdown.

Obama – Traitor In Chief

Again,  Obama shows how Un-American he really is.   He allows the Mexican leader to bash Arizona.  It doesn’t seem to matter that Mexico has much stricter laws than Arizona, and why does he think that Mexicans would rather chance death than stay in that country. . . . hmmmmm.

It is time that our traitorous president is impeached.     This has to be done before he destroys this country beyond repair.   The national media are his accomplices and they should also be gotten rid of;   many of us has made the move to FOX news but we need to move faster.

I have never be politically active nor have I worked for any campaign but this year I am exploring the possibility of getting active and certainly whoever runs against Obama – I will work for them.

Obama “Why is this being downplayed?”

Why is this being downplayed?

A North Korean sub sinks a South Korean naval ship, the evidence is clear, and the United States of America, under Barack Hussein Obama, says nothing.

WTF?

A North Korean torpedo sank a South Korean navy ship in March causing the loss of 46 sailors, an international report has found.

Investigators said they had discovered part of the torpedo on the sea floor and it carried lettering that matched a North Korean design.

Perhaps someone could pull Obama away from his bash America party with the Mexican President and speak to this in some cogent way.  I'm sure the South Koreans would love to hear from America about this.

Banned in the USA

A New Song for Bruce Springsteen: Banned in the USA

by Doug Giles

This past week blood spurted from my eyes like a horny toad I caught back in the 7th grade. What caused the ominous stream to emanate from my tear ducts and then travel a distance of three feet, you ask? Well, first of all, thank you for asking.

And since you’ve been so sweet to inquire about what drew my ire, here’s this week’s lousy list:

1. AG Eric Holder waffles on saying whether or not radical Islam was remotely responsible for the Fort Hood massacre, the attempted Christmas Day crotch bombing and the failed Times Square attack. I’ve got two words for the aforementioned AG: “Allahu Akbar!”

2. Holder 2.0’s condemnation of Arizona’s SB1070 coming before he admittedly even read the damn thing

3. BHO’s appointment of Kagan to the SCOTUS—a lady who has problems with both the 1st and 2nd Amendments

4. Obama cutting NYC’s Homeland Security cash 11 days after the Times Square car bomb attempt while he bails out the Greek goobers with mega money

5. Viewing a cute 13-year-old girl talk about getting chided by a public schoolteacher for drawing an American flag …

6. And that would be the same American flag that Mexican high school students in California threw to the ground this week in one of many Cali and Arizona displays of illegal alien disdain for Old Glory

These combined events caused my blue eyes to turn red. Oft times when I get angst-addled my pen suffers, which makes it difficult for me articulate how I truly feel in a short op-ed. Like Jim Croce, my words just come out wrong, so I’ll have to express my emotions in a song.

Now, before my lefty critics queue up to criticize my poetic skills below, let me state here and now that I suck at songwriting. Having said that, I suck less than you do.

Yes, I fully realize that I am no Bono. (By the way, shouldn’t Bono and Bon Jovi be writing songs about Nashville and doing telethons to raise money for the Music City? What’s the matter Bono and Jon? Nashville not liberal enough for U2? Too many white Christians concentrated along the Cumberland for you to be encumbered by their plight? I know … there is no George Bush to blame! That’s it. It was staring me right in the face and I didn’t see it. No Bush, no bash. I’m so slow, I know. That’s probably why my first dog left me. )

Anyway, without further ado here’s a song about America and the gross road these socialists are trying to take it down (to be sung to the tune of “Born in the USA,” by Bruce Springsteen):

Banned in the USA. Clap your hands.

Draw a picture of the president
Teacher says boy our taxes well spent
Pen a picture of the American flag
The same teacher turns into a witch and a nag

[Chorus]
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA

Grandpa’s told that he cannot pray
Crosses vandalized ‘n ripped off in the Mojave
Our founders wouldn’t have it this way
Our religious liberty has become so passé.

Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA

Freedom lovers are our great asset
Napolitano calls ‘em security threats.
Moms and pops who wouldn’t hurt a fly
Obama and his boys now love to despise.

Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Banned in the USA
Our Constitution is our great gain
The lefties treat it with such disdain
They’re workin’ hard to strip our rights
Our good is evil
And our wrongs are rights

I’m a patience-gone daddy in the USA
Banned in the USA
I’m a scrappy rocking daddy in the USA
Banned in the USA

Eric Holder And Groucho Marxism

David Stokes :: Townhall.com Columnist

Eric Holder And Groucho Marxism

by David Stokes

The chief law enforcement officer in the United States has a problem with rhetoric, not to mention reality. This was in plain view the other day as he attempted to answer questions during a hearing conducted by the House Judiciary Committee. It was not a pretty sight—in fact, it was a tortured display.

Our Attorney General, Eric Holder, wants to have it both ways. He is comfortable speaking with reckless abandon about laws he has never read and he is quite uncomfortable forming syllables about something he actually knows about, but would rather ignore or deny.

First, there was Mr. Holder’s response to a query by Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) who was simply trying to get the Attorney General to utter the words “radical” and “Islam” in the same sentence. Watching the video, I was reminded of one of my daughters trying to get her four-year old son to say the two words “I’m” and “sorry” in similar convergence. Maybe the congressman should have given the highly effective “I’m going to count to three!” warning.

In the past, Mr. Holder has demonstrated no such rhetorical hesitancy when describing America as a “nation of cowards” on matters of race relations. Nor has he ever had trouble putting the pejorative “war criminal” in front of George W. Bush’s name. But when it comes to the vitally important “why” in the recently thwarted Times Square bombing case, uttering the words “radical Islam” in relation to what Faisal Shahzad tried to do is apparently repugnant to our Attorney General.

This should come as no surprise. There has been a concerted effort underway from the moment of Barack Obama’s inauguration to progressively purge language that might offend Muslims from our national debate—even vocabulary. And it all has a Marxist ring to it. Not the Karl kind, but rather the Groucho variety, as with the quip:

“Are you going to believe me, or what you see with your own eyes?”

As if that exchange wasn’t bad enough, Eric Holder still had another foot to chew on the other day during the same hearing. Holder was caught flatfooted when Congressman Ted Poe (R-Texas) asked the Attorney General about the new Arizona immigration law. What follows is the transcript of the exchange. My only regret is that Mr. Poe didn’t interrupt the dialogue with another Groucho Marxism: “A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.”

REP. TED POE: So Arizona, since the federal government fails to secure the border, desperately passed laws to protect its own people. The law is supported by 70 percent of the people in Arizona, 60 percent of all Americans and 50 percent of all Hispanics, according to The Wall Street Journal/NBC poll done just this week. And I understand that you may file a lawsuit against the law. It seems to me the administration ought to be enforcing border security and immigration laws and not challenge them and that the administration is on the wrong side of the American people. Have you read the Arizona law?

ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER: I have not had a chance to -- I've glanced at it. I have not read it.

POE: It's 10 pages. It's a lot shorter than the health care bill, which was 2,000 pages long. I'll give you my copy of it, if you would like to -- to have a copy.

Even though you haven't read the law, do you have an opinion as to whether it's constitutional

HOLDER: I have not really -- I have not been briefed yet. We, as I said, have had underway a review of the law. I have not been briefed by the people who have been responsible -- who are responsible for that review.

POE: Are you going to read the law?

HOLDER: I'm sure I will read the law in anticipation of that briefing. I know that they will put that in front of me, and I'll spend a good evening reading that law.

POE: Well, I've gone through it. And it's pretty simple. It takes the federal law and makes it -- enacts it in a state statute, although makes it much more refined in that it actually says in one of the sections that no state or subdivision may consider race, color, national origin in implementing the requirements of any subsection of this law.

It seems to outlaw racial profiling in the law. I know there's been a lot of media hype about the -- the legislation. Do you see a difference in the constitutionality of a statute and the constitutionality of the application of that statute? Do you see there's a difference in those two?

HOLDER: Sure, there is a potential for challenging a law on its face and then challenging a law as it is applied. So there are two bases for challenging a particular statute.

POE: And when do you think you will have an opinion as to whether the law is constitutional?

HOLDER: I've used this term a lot, but I think this is -- I think relatively soon. I think that we have to -- there has been much discussion about this. The review is underway. The Department of Justice along with the Department of Homeland Security is involved in this review. And I would expect it -- our view of the law will be expressed relatively soon.

POE: You have some concerns about the statute. And it's -- it's hard for me to understand how you would have concerns about something being unconstitutional if you hadn't even read the law.

It seems like you wouldn't make a judgment about whether it violates civil rights statutes, whether it violates federal preemption concepts if you haven't read the law. So can you help me out there a little bit, how you can make a judgment call on -- on that, but you haven't read the law and determined whether it's constitutional or not?

HOLDER: Well, what I've said is that I've not made up my mind. I've only made -- made the comments that I've made on the basis of things that I've been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, television, talking to people who are on the review panel, on the review team looking at the law.

But I've not reached any conclusions as yet with regard to -- I've just expressed concerns on the basis of what I've heard about the law. But I'm not in a position to say at this point, not having read the law, not having had the chance to interact with the people who are doing the review, exactly what my position is. (End of excerpt)

Frankly, there is nothing I can add to this—except maybe canned laughter, or possibly another Groucho line Eric Holder may want to use in a future appearance before Congress: “Next time I see you, remind me not to talk to you.”

But the Attorney General probably prefers this Groucho Marxism: “If you’ve heard this story before, don’t stop me, because I’d like to hear it again.”

Obama – Finger Pointing

From a great blog I just read “Brutally Honest”
Our finger-pointer-in-chief decries finger pointing

A chain saw is needed to cut through the hypocrisy here:

President Barack Obama on Friday angrily decried the "ridiculous spectacle" of oil industry officials pointing fingers of blame for the catastrophic spill in the Gulf of Mexico and said the accident could bring devastation to the region and its economy.

The president also pledged to end a "cozy relationship" between the oil industry and federal regulators that he said had existed for years and into his own administration.

This is truly rich.

Here you have a guy who's blamed the previous administration for every conceivable problem the country is currently facing all while ignoring his own culpability.  Here you have a guy who's cozy relationships with big union are unprecedented all while ignoring the problems those same unions are foisting on the rest of us.

And now we get to hear this same guy criticizing others for alleged similar behaviors.

Someone get me a bucket... I'm about to retch.  Better yet, someone get me a time machine, I want to dial it forward to November of 2012.

Neil Armstrong, the first man to step foot on the moon, and Eugene Cernan, the man who left the last footprints in 1972, blasted the president over his new plans for NASA. As the American public has increasingly discovered, Obama's decision making is about as transparent as the dark side of the moon. Armstrong said Obama's plan was "invisible to so many [and] likely contrived by a very small group in secret." Cernan says it was put together "with little or no input from the NASA administrator, (NASA) center directors or senior NASA management."

Obama – 3 Years Left

You Now Have 3 Years

If George W. Bush had been the first president to need a TelePrompTer installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a  minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless.

If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in Texas, would you have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical jerk.

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low  over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown  Manhattan  causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually  get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in  New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue  with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING? Don't worry. He's done all this in 9 months-so you'll have 3 years and 3 months to come up with an answer...

Obamacare Day 50

Congressional Budget Office estimates released Tuesday predict the health care overhaul will likely cost about $115 billion more in discretionary spending over ten years than the original cost projections.
The additional spending - if approved over the years by Congress - would bring the total estimated cost of the overhaul to over $1 trillion.
"Just like other authorized programs, the discretionary programs in health reform will need to compete for funds within set budgetary limits," said a Democratic aide.
The Congressional Budget Office expects the federal agencies to spend $10 billion to $20 billion over 10 years on administrative costs to implement the overhaul. The CBO expects Congress to spend an additional $105 billion over 10 years to fund discretionary programs in the overhaul.

Liberals Are Just Plain Stupid?

"maybe liberals are just plain stupid"

I really don't want to believe that... honestly, I don't...  But it's getting harder and harder not to...

Robin of Berkeley explains:

Conservatives can mistakenly assume that liberals think like they do, in a learned and rational way. This is an exercise in futility since liberalism is not based on logic.

To become a conservative, I've had to learn a whole new language, one based on reason. If conservatives want to understand the liberal mind, they should consider becoming bilingual, too.

Liberals live in a stratosphere centered on emotions and magical thinking. If you've tried to reason with your daughter and she looks at you blankly; if your neighbor changes the subject during your compelling arguments; if your cousin says this about Obama: "I don't know why.  I just like the guy"...that's why.

After I 'fessed up last week to once being besotted with socialism, a reader had an epiphany. He wrote that maybe liberals are just plain stupid.

I'm not going to disagree with this. There are innumerable examples from both the famous and the anonymous:

-- The most illustrious of all leftists, Noam Chomsky, still maintains that the Khmer Rouge did not slaughter millions of Cambodians.

-- Liberal luminaries Annette Bening and Naomi Wolf defend radical Islam, including the dreaded burqa.

-- After journeying to Cuba, members of the Congressional Black Caucus bragged about the stellar conditions there.

-- Michael Moore thinks that the Cuban health system is to die for.

-- Anita Dunn, a former special assistant to Obama, stated that Mao is one of the people she admired the most.

If these are the more informed liberals, what about Jane and Joe in the street?

-- During the primary, I asked my friend Gail why she was voting for Obama. Did she know anything about his voting record or background? She responded, "No, I don't." When I asked her why she was voting for him, she said, "I just am."

-- Last week, I chatted with Shelley, a liberal pal who voted for Obama. I asked her what she thought of him now. She said that she thought he was doing fine, but she confessed that she wasn't following the news.

-- During the election, I told a friend, George, that I thought Obama was a socialist. George responded, "Well capitalism doesn't work. Why not try socialism?" Dr. George has a Ph.D.

Are these folks "stupid"? I looked up the word, and my dictionary reads, "lacking intelligence or common sense." Going by that definition, it would be hard to argue no.

I really do want to give progressives the benefit of the doubt... but to do so necessitates my own giving up of reality.

The bottom line is that liberals, in my mind, are one of two things.  Stupid... or evil.

Neither is flattering (obviously) but the only other possibility is... both.

Are you a liberal?

God Vs. Science

God  vs. Science

'Let me explain the problem science has with religion.'

The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'

'Yes sir,' the student says.

'So you believe in God?'

'Absolutely. '

'Is God good?'

'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'

'Yes'

'Are you good or evil?'

'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible! He considers for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'

'Yes sir, I would.'

'So you're good...!'

'I wouldn't say that.'

'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you answer that one?'

The student remains silent. 'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. 'Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?'

'Er..yes,' the student says.

'Is Satan good?'

The student doesn't hesitate on this one.. 'No.'

'Then where does Satan come from?'

The student falters. 'From God'

'That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?'

'Yes, sir.'

'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'

'Yes'

'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'

Again, the student has no answer. 'Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?'

The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'

'So who created them?'

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. 'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. 'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?'

The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'

The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?'

'No sir. I've never seen Him.'

'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'

'No, sir, I have not.'

'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?'

'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'

'Yet you still believe in him?'

'Yes'

'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist... What do you say to that, son?'

'Nothing,' the student replies.. 'I only have my faith.'

'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.'

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat? '

' Yes.

'And is there such a thing as cold?'

'Yes, son, there's cold too.'

'No sir, there isn't.'

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. 'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit down to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees.. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of
heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.'

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.

'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?'

'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation. 'What is night if it isn't darkness?'

'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'

'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'

The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. 'Flawed? Can you explain how?'

'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student explains.. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought.' 'It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.' 'Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?'

'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.'

'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?'

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. 'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.' The student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter. 'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so.. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.' 'So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. 'I Guess you'll have to take them on faith.'

'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?' Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We see it Everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in The multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world.. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'

To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God.. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.'

The professor sat down.

If you read it all the way through and had a smile on your face when you finished, mail to your friends and family with the title 'God vs. Science'

Shotgun Preteen vs. Illegal Alien Home Invaders

Shotgun preteen vs.  Illegal alien Hom Invaders:
Butte, Montana November 5,  2007

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26,  probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems  the two crooks never learned two things: they were in

Montana & and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds  to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home , and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins,

She is still alive.

Now that is Gun Control  !

Thought  for the day:
Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

Obama’s Continued Attacks On The Average American Citizen

Amid crime wave, where's the empathy?
Posted by Laura Ingraham

The demonization of the American citizen continues. President Obama used the White House observance of Cinco de Mayo to chide those who would "single out people because of who they look like."
If you are an average, middle-class American simply wishing to live with less crime, you are now a bigot. Barack might as well have pulled a Gordon Brown and come right out and said it.
Where is the empathy for those dealing with the illegal alien-induced crime wave?
Obama said last week the Arizona law means people simply taking their child out to get ice cream are going to be harassed.
This is true. Several people were "harassed" to death at an ice cream shop in Denver, Colorado in 2008. The harassment, however, consisted of a truck driven by an illegal alien at 80 miles per hour causing the deaths of three people, including a three-year-old boy:

Francis Hernandez was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison for causing an accident that killed three people at an Aurora ice-cream shop in 2008...
Hernandez repeatedly violated traffic laws and drove without a license on numerous occasions...
Hernandez was driving more than 80 mph on South Havana Street on Sept. 4, 2008, when he hit a small pickup driven by Patricia Guntharp, who was turning into a strip mall.
Her pickup careened into a Baskin-Robbins store, killing Guntharp, 49, and her passenger, Debra Serecky, 51. Marten Kudlis, only 3, was in the ice cream shop with his mother. Marten died, and several others were injured...
In asking for leniency, public defender Chris Baumann, who sought a prison sentence of between four and 12 years, noted that Hernandez had never been convicted of a felony. Baumann [said] he planned to appeal the conviction...
After the conviction, the Kudlis family filed a civil suit in Arapahoe County District Court, seeking damages from Hernandez and...several law enforcement agencies that arrested or cited Hernandez but did not report him to federal authorities for deportation.

Let's review: Someone who entered our country illegally repeatedly breaks our traffic laws and eventually causes the deaths of three people. The taxpayers provide him with a defense lawyer and pay for all of his court appeals. After his conviction, they also fund the rest of his stay in America behind bars.
This is Barack Obama's idea of fairness? This is why Democrats demonize supporters of a law that allows law enforcement to check the resident status of suspicious individuals they encounter while on duty?
Where is the empathy for children like Marten Kudlis?

Religious Violence (Muslim)

From BLOG “Brutally Honest”

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

"religiously motivated violence should not be analyzed — unless it is committed by Christians or Jews"

Leon de Winter is writing with wisdom on the MSM meme that the Times Square suspect is, according to their reality, "the foreclosure terrorist":

The authorities and the media reject the idea that religious convictions can drive men to violence. They need justifications that fit within their progressive worldview, and this progressive worldview is focused on socioeconomic conditions.

...

For the progressive, politically-correct authorities and mainstream media, religiously motivated violence should not be analyzed — unless it is committed by Christians or Jews. With the latter, religious violence is a sign of outdated belief systems. But when Muslims are involved, the progressive mind starts identifying socioeconomic circumstances after having been conditioned by decades of postmodern ideologies to think that way.

Since the beginning of Islam, the majority of Muslims have been living in poverty under wealthy ruling classes. Illiteracy, poverty, backwardness, and bigotry among Muslims don’t concern Islamic terrorists like Shahzad. He divides the world between the House of Islam (Islamic countries) and the House of War (us). His concern is the absolute reign of Islam on earth.

Our ruling elites have been trained by postmodern academics to think in socioeconomic models. Cultural studies have trained them in thinking that all cultures and traditions are equal and that Judeo-Christian culture is equal to colonialism, capitalism, slavery, and other vile practices.

(Wikipedia notes that “slavery was an important part of Ottoman society until the Ottoman Empire forbade the slavery of Caucasians [including Georgians, Armenians, and Circassians] in the early 19th century. As late as 1908, women slaves were still sold in the Ottoman Empire. In Istanbul, about one-fifth of the population consisted of slaves. It was Arab traders who started the trans-Saharan slave trade, exporting black slaves from sub-Saharan African countries as far back as AD 1100 and the practice carried over into Ottoman reign.”)

The elimination of the words “Islam” and “Muslim” is the direct result of the dramatic expansion of cultural relativism in schools, academia, and media, which have all been contributing to the idea that differences between cultures and ethnicities should be erased (unless these ethnicities demand autonomy and preferential treatment).

To ignore Islamofascism is to ignore that which threatens Western civilization.  We do so at our peril.

And isn't it ironic that liberals would likely be the most victimized in a society dominated by radical Muslims?

Shakira, Immigration and the Pop Culture Politics of the Left

Austin Hill :: Townhall.com Columnist

Shakira, Immigration and the Pop Culture Politics of the Left

by Austin Hill

What should you do when you’re the Mayor of America’s 5th largest city, your state has just enacted America’s most far –reaching law regarding illegal immigration, and you’re trying to make a career of leftist, race-baiting politics?

Honestly, there’s only one thing a person in this situation can do – hold a press conference with Shakira.

This, by the way, is precisely what Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon did last Thursday, April 29th. After a week of hand-wringing, editorializing in the Washington Post about how Arizona’s new immigration law “requires” police officers to “profile” people with “brown skin,” and repeatedly vowing “not in my city,” Mayor Gordon got really serious about his city’s illegal immigration crisis, and hosted the Grammy Award winning Latina recording artist (and very sexy dancer) Shakira at City Hall.

After a behind-closed-doors meeting with the beautiful Colombian pop star (who is now, apparently, a U.S. immigration policy analyst), Mayor Gordon, Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris, and Vice Mayor Michael Nowakowski all joined Shakira at the podium as she weighed-in on America’s big public policy debate before the gathered press. And for this, the Phoenix-area media reported that Mayor Gordon’s “position” had “developed clout.”

Gordon, as a matter of background, was once a very moderate, even somewhat “conservative Democrat” who earned the trust and respect of the predominantly Republican city of Phoenix such that he was twice elected Mayor. Yet after his re-election in 2007 things changed.

A series of high-profile incidents back in 2007 and 2008 unfolded, involving illegal immigrant “day laborers” gathering and blocking traffic in front of Phoenix’ landmark “Pruitt’s Furniture” store, while the city leadership did essentially nothing. Mayor Gordon’s refusal to intervene on behalf of the suffering business – combined with his “nothing to see here-move along now” response to the cold-blooded murder of multiple Phoenix police officers at the hands of Hispanic illegal immigrants, eventually prompted famed Maricopa County Sherriff Joe Arpaio to move-in and do what the city police refused to do. This is to say that Arpaio and company actually began “policing” crime scenes that appeared to involve illegal immigrants – and come to find out, some of those crime scenes actually did entail actual illegal immigrants.

From there, the political “die” was cast. Mayor Gordon could not continue trying to portray himself as a “moderate” to a predominantly Republican city, when his neglect of U.S citizens, city residents and business owners had just been stood-up by Sheriff Arpaio. He could either move to the right and try to “out Arpaio” Arpaio (which was never going to happen), or he could run to the rabid political left and join Arizona’s small but vocal “open borders-si se’ puede-Somos America – it’s all racism” crowd.

And run to the left he did. From then on, whenever Sheriff Arpaio held a press conference to discuss one of his “crime sweep” operations, Mayor Gordon held a press conference to explain that Arpaio’s efforts were all about “racism.” Last year when a tragic shooting took place at the United States’ Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C., Mayor Gordon exploitatively held a press conference to announce that “anti-Semitism” had been involved in the museum murder, and that there was also “anti-Semitism” present within Sheriff Joe’s department (which amounted to quite a non sequitur for the local media).

Indeed, over the past three years or so, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has mastered the artistry of buzz words, headline grabbing, and race baiting. And by bringing Shakira into the mix, the Mayor has now secured for himself a more prominent position in the world of online search engine history.

But let me be clear in stating the obvious. Mayor Gordon has not added more value, or validity, or “clout” to his policies and ideas simply because an attractive, talented singer shared the podium with him (just as a Cameron Diaz press conference about “global warming” adds no validity to junk science). This kind of “politicking” creates headlines and soundbytes to which millions of our fellow Americans gravitate, but it does nothing to advance our nation’s on-going debate, and it is most certainly not the stuff of which rational public policy is made.

Unfortunately, this vacuous approach to public office is dominating Washington right now. The good news, however, is that Americans are waking-up to it, and are beginning in large numbers to reject it.

Despite the fact that in 2008 we elected the “anti-Bush” presidential candidate with the Muslim-sounding middle name, Iran is as threatening and anti-American as ever, and Americans are realizing this. And when Americans question and disagree with the President and the Congress on everything from healthcare to immigration, they are labeled as “anti-American” and “terrorists,” and this, too, is not setting well.

Let America’s liberal left be America’s liberal left. Let their gamesmanship be put on display for all to see. Americans will then be better able to discern who has “clout” - and whether they want statesmanship, or pop-culture politics.

History Lesson

For those that don't know about history ... Here is a condensed version:
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1 . Liberals
2. Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement...
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. They became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass for obvious reasons.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher
testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud
or Miller. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, engineers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off.

And there you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self......I'm going to have another beer
